DIY家具で使う木材の種類とサイズ規格表
家具といえばウォルナット、チーク、ナラなどの木材に憧れます。 最初は僕も何も知らなくてチークでつくろうなんて考えていたのですが、そう言ったよく聞く木材は非常に高価かつホームセンターでは残念ながら売っていません。 下記の規格表の価格は時期により価格が変動するので参考値として見ていただければと思います。 ホームセンターで買える主な木材は、SPF、松荒材、杉材、ファルカタ、ラワン、パイン集成材や合板になります。
Types and Size Standards of Wood
When it comes to furniture, I can’t help but admire woods like walnut, teak, and oak. In the beginning, I didn’t know much and even thought about making something with teak. However, unfortunately, such high-end woods aren’t available at regular home improvement stores. The prices listed in the chart below are for reference only, as they can fluctuate depending on the season.

ランバーは大きい板材で表面にシナの無垢材を貼った合板のことです。 シナランバーとラワンランバーがあります。 ホームセンターでは厚さ9~24mm程度まで揃っていることが多いです。 シナランバーは表面にシナが貼ってあり、美しいです。 ラワンランバーはシナランバーより安いですが、ペンキで塗装するか、見えないところに使うと良いと思います。 木口テープというものを使えば、木口も隠して無垢材のように見せることもできます。
Lumber refers to large sheet materials made by laminating a veneer of solid wood, such as birch, onto plywood. There are two common types: birch lumber and lauan lumber. Home improvement stores typically carry these in thicknesses ranging from 9mm to 24mm.Birch lumber has a birch veneer on the surface, giving it a beautiful finish. You can use edge banding to cover the edges and give the appearance of solid wood.
ラワンベニヤ合板という板材もあります。 この表には掲載していませんが、ラワンベニヤ合板は地層のようになっている合板のことで、ランバーとは違い、独特の工業的な格好よさがあります。 高い家具にもつかわれていることがあるので、使いようでかっこよく使える素材です。 ベニヤ合板をつかってつくった家具は”収納家具 ペーパーシェルフ”で紹介しており、SPFは”収納家具 プリンターキャビネット”で紹介しています。
